FACULTY & CLASSES 2019
This years 2019 internationally renowned faculty includes:
2 days Extended Teachings & Healing with:
DON TITO LA ROSA, CURANDERO DE SONIDO~ THE HEALING POWER OF THE ANCESTRAL INSTRUMENTS ~ SOUND HEALING LIMPIA ~ FLOWER CEREMONY ~ El Poder Curativa de los instrumentos Ancestrales de Antigua Peru y Limpia de Sonido.
Tito La Rosa is a descendant of Quechua Indians of the Peruvian Andes. For many years, he has been recovering and preserving, studying and intuiting the ancestral music of Peru. He is also a Curandero de Sonido, a sound healer, who enters into an altered state to bring forth sound that elevates, allowing for healing and balance to occur.
Ancient Andean wisdom teaches us that the earth was made while the creator sang, thus all beings are made of sound, rhythm and harmony. Through his concerts, flower ceremonies and music classes La Rosa helps reawaken our memories (memoria antigua) - weaving sounds into frequencies that open the heart and encourage the spirit to soar. La Rosa is a descendant of Quechua Indians of the Peruvian Andes.
We will explore the uses of the instruments and their applications to healing body, mind and spirit. Working with a variety of instruments such as whistling vessels, zamponas, bamboo flutes, patutos (conch shells) ceramic antaras, feathers, seeds, shakapas, bells and drums we will discover their uses in healing and their connection to the realm of spirit. We will explore how to use these instruments in ceremonies and rituals. This course will be taught using the knowledge and principles of the Cosmic vision of the Peruvian Andes. It is a powerful and yet simple course on how to work with shamanic sound. You do not need to be a musician or even to work with sound to benefit from taking this class. Its teachings apply to all of life.
Dr. John Beaulieu: SHAMINISM, SOUND & SCIENCE
John is a senior teacher at Sage Academy, and is the creator of the Biosonic Therapeutic Tuning Forks. He is a composer, mental health counselor, and board certified Naturopathic Physician. Dr. Beaulieu is an expert on stress science, and oversees molecular research on the healing effects of sound and music. He is a professor of Integrative Health at CIIS University where he teaches sound healing methods to graduate students. He is author of numerous CD"s and books on music and sound, such as Music and Sound in the Healing Arts and Human Tuning. He is truly one of the top 2 pioneers of sound in this country, with an esteemed career spanning decades.
In these modules with John, we will explore some great stories from the Castaneda books on sound, and how what he calls "seeing" is actually listening. We will then discuss how this perspective is backed up by science. We will also start to explore sonic states, with the Peruvian Whistling Vessels, Overtone Tuning Forks, Drums, Polyrhythms and Guided Journeys.
Guillaume Gauthereau: THE ANCIENT PRACTICE OF ANCESTRAL JOURNEYING AND THE HEALING POWER OF THE DRUM
In this 3 hours workshop we will explore the use and power of shamanic drumming, and of channeling sounds, for healing purposes. Drums have been used for 1000s of years by shamans all around the globe to bring protection, to cure and to journey through the power of creating altered states of consciousness. We will explore how we can use journeying, drumming, and singing to bring very valuable information to heal ourselves and others and to channel healing energies into a client’s energy field. We will also explore how we can call upon the 4 directions, the 4 elements, and the Spirits associated with them to bring multiple energetic and spiritual layers into this work.
Shawinigan Ungaia (aka. Guillaume Gauthereau) is a shamanic practionner, healer, sound healer, Shamanic Reiki Master, and Medicine Carrier. He has been working with plant medicine for over 10 years and run The Sanctuary (TheSanctuaryHeal.com), a shamanic Healing Center in the Catskills (Callicoon, NY). He also run a shamanic school and retreats in Peru and in the US. He has been practicing and training with Shamans from Native American lineages and Peruvian Huachumeros and Ayahuacaeros. LEA GARNIER : CRYSTAL MEDICINA; CREATING A VIBRATIONAL DOORWAY INTO THE HUMAN CRYSTALLINE FIELD
The ancients (shamans and indian rishis) knew that the human body has a subtle energetic system that can be accessed by the application of sound and intention. When the crystal bowls and pyramids are sounded with healing intention and in a sacred way, they invoke a quiet peace that can still our minds and release stress from our bodies allowing us to relax and open to receive healing. As they are crystalline in structure, they are by their very nature extraordinary tools for amplifying, storing and transmitting intentions of healing, love, peace and well being. Since the structure of our bodies and DNA are crystalline in nature, we respond and resonate with the frequencies associated with the properties of quartz crystal. In this session we will explore handling and playing techniques, specific areas of the body to clear, and how as a living mineral kingdom they lovingly partner with us within our current expression and elevate us to our highest love potential vibrationally.
As director of Sage, Lea brings over 30 years of healing expertise in the healing arts field of sacred sound, sacred art, yoga and craniosacral therapy. A certified yoga instructor, she specializes in teaching the integration of SoundHealing and Sound Awareness (nada) in a yoga class setting. She has trained extensively in the ancient ways of sacred healing sound with curanderos and curanderas from the Amazon and Sacred Valley of Peru. She has integrated their knowledge of ancient healing energies with the new scientific and contemporary studies from master teachers and mentors such as Dr. John Beaulieu, Don Conreaux, Diane Mandle, Tito LaRosa, and many other pioneers she has studied with in the field of SoundHealing in the past 10 years.
DROR ASHUAH: MUSIC OF THE PLANTS
Music of the Plants is a form of expression, beauty and artistry like no other. It is an instrument made just for the plant world, a patented technology that transforms the biorhythms of plants and trees into a musical performance to listen to and interact with. This device gives us a new way to contact nature and gives plants and trees the opportunity to express their innate intelligence by communicating through sound.
For the first time, plants can become musicians and trees can serenade us. The magic of Music of the Plants touches people in a profound way that cannot be explained by words alone. One must hear and feel this memorable encounter with nature for oneself.
Dror Ashuah is an international inspirational speaker, intuitive, channel and author of "Conversation With Angels" ; "And So Be It" and "it's Time", which are compilations of messages on spiritual awakening he has received from the Angelic realm in preparation for an unprecedented time of global change. www.andsobeit.com
PETER BLUM: THE VOWEL TEACHINGS OF BEAUTIFUL PAINTED ARROW
In 1988, Peter Blum met Native American mystic and visionary Joseph Rael (Beautiful Painted Arrow) and became his student. He slowly received Joseph’s teachings on the practice of working with the vowel sounds in a particular fashion. With Joseph’s blessing and encouragement, he has been incorporating them into his private sessions, and using them as an essential part of teaching sound healing. According to Joseph, these vibrations are encoded into our DNA, and also reflect certain “principal ideas” which can best be understood by the practice of the chanting of the vowel sounds.
"Voice is the first instrument, the one which every human learns to use to communicate. As students of the use of sound for healing, it is of primary importance that we study intentional use of vocal toning” — Peter Blum
WILL LEBLANC & SCOTT WILLIAMS: YIN + NAAD = YOGA OF SOUND
Will & Lea will guIde you through a morning sadhana, yin style with the sounds of the sacred sound instruments.
All life is relationship, and in this experience we will explore the dynamics between the practice of Yin Yoga and the therapeutic Sound Bath. By uniting our emotional, spiritual and physical bodies in a meditative way, these two modalities will bring you back to who you truly are.
The practice of Yin Yoga is slow and deep. Based on the principles of stillness, it encourages students to listen to their body's individual needs. A yin practice guides students past the muscle and into the connective tissue, joints and areas of tension that are being held in deep layers of the body. Students will learn an intuitive approach to working with the body that cultivates listening, facilitates the release of long-held tensions and offers genuine relaxation. Simple postures on the floor will be practiced to relax your muscles in order to stimulate the ligaments, joints and layers of fasica. No yoga experience necessary!!
Sounds have been utilized in various cultures for thousands of years as a tool for healing. Whether through the use of mantras, medicine melodies or the use of interval and frequency, these various techniques all have the same intention: to move us from a place of imbalance to a place of balance. Man in essence is a vibration. The molecule sings, the heart of the atom is tone, and man has a sound body which comes in and out of tune. Enabling the soul to remember its true divine self, its spirit self, we can re-merge with all that is. Finding connection and balance with all that is, we find ourselves in wholeness, homeostasis or perfect health.
Meditation with sound is one universal path to Self Realization, accessible to anyone and appropriate for people of any religion or spiritual aspiration.
"Will teaches Yin Yoga with intuition, depth, heart."
LEA GARNIER: PEACE. LOVE. SHRUTI
Lea will Demonstrate how to use a SHRUTI BOX for your personal practice, in therapeutic settings such as a yoga class, group sound healing or in a private healing session. The Shruti Box originates from India, and is fast becoming an essential part of the sound practitioner’s “kit” as one of the main tools used in facilitating a sound journey. At the same time it provides a personal deep healing for our throat chakras as it teaches us the many ways to liberate our voice. Students will have the opportunity to practice, as each will be provided a shruti box to use during this teaching.
In 2010, Lea co-founded the first East coast Annual SoundHealing Intensive at Menla, NY. By creating a forum for pioneers of SoundHealing to share their knowledge, a platform was launched for in depth studies that has greatly contributed to todays expansive and ever growing field of sound practitioners world wide. She now offers 6 SoundHealing training/retreat intensives a year in America with expanded offerings in Europe facilitated by co-founder Philippe Garnier.
She maintains a private and group practice at Sage Center for the Healing Arts/Sage Academy in Woodstock, NY, a center she co-founded in 2007, and now directs.
REBECCA SINGER: SINGING into BONE CEREMONY
SINGING into BONE is a ceremony that was given to me while in Mongolia. Bones, the longest lasting part of our bodies, carry wisdom, memory and a distinct sense of who we really are. Our souls vibrate through our bones, through the pathways of bone marrow, singing out to the universe. Like wind whistling through long tunnels, the vibration of your bones is the song of your soul.
In this Ceremonial gathering, participants may experience images, memories, and the magic of seeing your soul’s language revealed in your body or through direct words or images. During this ceremony, if you listen carefully you may experience the vibration of your wisest self… and the song of your own heart.
Rebecca Singer’s work of 25 years as a shamanic energy healer led her to live in the Cloud Forest of Monteverde, Costa Rica and to Mongolia to be with The Reindeer People. She received the “Singing Into Bone” Ceremony as a result of her time with Shaman Saintsegset in Mongolia. This experience led her to embark on an extended trip to the northern mountains of Mongolia where she met and stayed with the Reindeer People, a vanishing native people who still manifest the very roots of Siberian Shamanism in their cultural beliefs and practices. Rebecca is a shamanic healer, working with the power of the drum and her voice, she is teacher, writer, artist, mother, and world traveler who has done healing work internationally. She is the owner of Shaman’s Eye, offering sessions, readings, apprenticeships, ceremonies and workshops.
“Participants will experience profound personal transformation as a result of being surrounded with these healing frequencies so completely for these four unparalleled days,” says Garnier. “To have the opportunity to study with these teachers in this intensive retreat on the sacred and already energetically charged land of Menla will be a unique experience that will stay with them forever. Everyone will leave the retreat with a precious and practical skill set that they can immediately use both to enhance their own individual growth and benefit clients, friends and family.”

Menla's mission is to offer a world-class spa and integrated healing system, combining the best of Western integrative medicine with elements of Tibetan medicine, Ayurveda, and other holistic traditions.
MENLA, SACRED LAND HISTORY
375 million years ago, before dinosaurs and when the Catskill region was under a shallow sea, a half-mile-wide meteor crashed here, creating the oldest known meteor impact crater on Earth. The crash was equivalent of several hundred million tons of TNT and pulverized the bedrock, leaving a 6-mile-wide crater. Over millions of years, different layers of sediment were deposited on top of one another, and with erosion caused by rainfall and the Ice Age, Panther Mountain as we now see it was gradually formed. Looking at a topographical map, Panther appears to be a nearly perfectly circular mountain, surrounded by two rivers, one flowing North and the other South. The crater is approximately 1.5 to 2 miles beneath the surface of the earth, and due to lack of solid bedrock, the gravitational field here is 0.2% less than the surrounding areas. The local Native American peoples, including the Esopus and Mahicans, regarded this valley and region, with its enormous first-growth hemlock trees, as especially sacred, a place of the spirits. They never settled here and only used this valley for ceremonial purposes.
